The Atlanta Silverbacks handed the Eleven just their second loss at home Saturday night by a final score of 1 – 0.  Atlanta was able to score the first and only goal in the 16th minute, with former Indy Eleven player, Pedro Mendez scoring off a beautiful back touch assist by Javi Chavez.  The lead played right into the hands of the defensive minded Silverbacks, who after weathering some quality early chances by Indy, were able to lock down in the final third to finish the shutout and collect their second straight road win.

The loss was only the second at home for the Eleven and comes at a bad time as they look to position themselves in the playoff picture. Many fans were expecting 3 points to be a real possibility for the Eleven, who had two more good looks at a goal and possibility of salvaging 1 point in overage time, but those hopes failed to find net. Indy suffered their third shutout loss of the season, this one being the first at Carroll Stadium since September of last year.

The Eleven will have to be quick to put that loss behind them and recover, as they have to turn around for a match with Edmonton on the road Wednesday night. Edmonton will also be on short rest – they play tomorrow (Sunday) at Ottawa.
